You've nailed the basic theme for the romance novel --that the power of love can overcome every circumstance. In many of your paranormals, it trumps even death. And those who are inclined to denigrate the genre might remember that's the very same theme unerpinning most, if not all, of the world's religions.toby devenshttp://www.midlifepassions.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2190272161363326208.post-70084152833516236972012-09-13T02:29:18.740-04:002012-09-13T02:29:18.740-04:00Glad I gave you a kick start. As you say, I agree that the best ones where readers can really believe, are the ones where heros or heroines are scarred or wounded. If they are willing to deal with baggage, it brings the relationship beyond the level of a romp in the sack. pearlhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09183408879145395533noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2190272161363326208.post-25057553979330539752012-09-11T19:02:49.100-04:002012-09-11T19:02:49.100-04:00My stories are about feeling responsible and takin...My stories are about feeling responsible and taking care of others. In several of my novels, I've explored the nuances of caring for children that are not your biological offspring, while learning to deal with other problems at the same time -- all with satisfying endings and the hero and heroine in love. I suspect that not all heros start out as wounded--once in a while there are other issues from life goals, to meddling relatives, to even serious illnesses that make the hero feel he shouldn't have a relationship.
